About us
The main aim of BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme is to ensure that physiotherapists qualifying from UWE are reflective practitioners, who take responsibility for their own professional development and are able to contribute to the safe, ethical and effective delivery of physiotherapy services in a wide variety of interprofessional and multicultural contexts. Clinical education is an indispensable and integral part of the programme. Changes in health care provision have resulted in a widening range of work environments and increasing autonomy for the physiotherapist. It is therefore essential that the professional practice modules and their associated outcomes reflect this trend.
Our strategy for 2020 sets out a confident and ambitious future for UWE Bristol and focuses on our ultimate goal - transforming futures - through our research, learning and teaching and knowledge exchange.

About the faculty
The Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences brings together experts from Allied Health Professions, Applied Sciences, Health and Applied Social Science, Nursing and Midwifery and Psychology.
The Department of Allied Health Professions consists of specialists in the areas of Diagnostic Imaging, Radiotherapy and Oncology, Occupational Therapy, Paramedic Science, Music Therapy, Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation.
Researchers at UWE have completed a three year project funded by the Physiotherapy Research Foundation and the charity Above & Beyond. The project is to evaluate the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) and exercise in relieving the painful symptoms of knee osteoarthritis (OA).
Activity within the Centre for Health and Clinical Research is focused on five main research themes.
