Claire Sullivan, CSP’s director of Employment Relations and Union Services, has been appointed as non-executive director on the board of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Britain’s national regulator for workplace health and safety.
She will take up the part time post on 1 August.
After 10 years working as a physiotherapist in the NHS, Ms Sullivan joined the CSP staff in 1995 as its first health and safety officer. She has headed up the trade union arm of the CSP since 2014 and has always retained a strong commitment to health and safety.
Ms Sullivan said: ‘I am privileged to be joining the HSE board. Striving for safe and healthy work and workplaces has been central in both my careers as a physiotherapist and as a trade union leader so this is an absolute pleasure as well as an honour.’
The HSE is governed by the board, which comprises members with extensive experience across all industries, and the management board, its most senior team of executives.
