Siobhan Harkin, Macmillan Specialist Physiotherapist in Oncology & Palliative care at Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff is doing an MSc dissertation titled: 'Mobilising patients with known long bone metastases at risk of pathological fracture. Identifying the key considerations for clinical practice'
There is currently a lack of research or guidelines for the management of patients with known metastatic bone disease, for whom surgical intervention has been excluded.This study aims to address the gap in the knowledge base by gathering insight from health professionals working with this patient group.
Siobhan is looking for experienced Physiotherapists with at least two years experience working in the specialities of Oncology, Orthopaedics or Palliative Care to complete two separate electronic surveys.
They should have experience of working with patients with metastatic bone disease who have been deemed to be at risk of pathological fracture, but for whom surgical intervention has been excluded.
