Study Title: Difficult conversations: An exploration of physiotherapy experiences in palliative care.
Hannah Bateson, an MSc, physiotherapy student at Leeds Beckett University.
is looking for potential participants for a research study exploring experiences of conversations with palliative care patients about their treatment.
To be eligible for this study you will need to be working with palliative care patients on a regular basis as a qualified physiotherapist.
The research involves one interview which will take between 20-40 mins. The questions will be gathering your experiences and thoughts of initiating conversations with newly referred palliative patients as well as their families. I also hope to gain insight into the communication process throughout their rehabilitation programme. The interview will include sensitive questions regarding end of life care of the dying patient.
The interview can be arranged either face to face, telephone or over skype. Following the interview you will be asked to check the analysis of your data to ensure it reflects the experiences and thoughts you shared. You will be able to withdraw from the study at any time.
The project has received ethical approval from the Local Research Ethics Co-ordinator in the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences at Leeds Beckett University.
