Throwing light on the consequences of cancer and its treatment

At least 500,000 people in the UK are facing poor health or disability after treatment for cancer.  Many of these problems can persist for at least 10 years after treatment. Macmillan have today published Throwing Light on the Consequences of Cancer and its Treatment , a report that highlights the scale of the problem.

Commissioners and providers must better understand the long-term needs of people living with and beyond cancer and how these can be met, including monitoring for late-onset conditions many decades after treatment.  Some consequences of cancer and its treatment can be reduced with simple interventions, while more complex issues will require specialist services

A lay summary version is also available.
